The life of an owner of First Time Fantasy Football
When a friend of mine asked me to join his Fantasy Football League, I thought what the hell all what I do today is to see NFL games anyway.A couple of weeks later I received a confirmation email to go online and register my team name and set my mind before that the fantasy league draft. Once created my own, I realized I really could classify the players so that you wanted on their team. It seemed easy, spent by players who are usually good plays, but after the 50th person still had another 300 names to sort, so I left alone.
It was now two weeks before the project and I was paying particular attention to the preseason football players only wanted to ensure project still looked good entering the regular season. Also paid attention to the prospects best rookie receivers, especially wide corridors and quarterbacks. Do you know if they are produced in the first round we have a real good chance to see some playing time if the person ahead of them in the lineup low by injury.
Now it was on draft day and did my research, had finally compiled a list of all players who wanted the project. With the second selection in the draft I selected QB Tom Brady of the New England Patriots, also happened to get runners Brian Westbrook (Eagles), Ryan Grant (Packers) Cedric Benson (Bengals), Darren Sproles (Chargers), Earnest Graham (Bucs) and Leon Washington (Jets). For recipients picked Reggie Wayne (Colts), DeSean Jackson (Eagles), Eddie Royal (Broncos), Devin Hester (Bears), and Donnie Avery (RAMS). I just drafted a tight end Owen Daniels (Texas), a defense of the Patriots, and a kicker David Akers (Eagles). With my last project I selected selection Jake Delhomme (Panthers), as a backup quarterback since Brady went all last year on the sidelines.
Entering the season I thought I had a good team, I was excited to see how the first week would go. One of the characteristics fantasy league I've learned you crazy is the prediction score, I now know that no confidence. For my first game they said I was the favorite to win the game 101-92, and made me feel even more of a draft genius. First time playing and it seemed likely to win my first game.
When the first week of the season the NFL began, I was watching, but thinking in the back of the head of how my players were doing. Then I remembered one of the boys told Dish Network's channel NFL Network offers up to date statistics on players at 1pm and 4pm games. Thus, each business to jumping into the channel to see how my players were doing. By type of felt like a real owner of a team unless all the money and the luxury box.
After the 1 o'clock games I've connected my ESPN fantasy football account just to see what time my players were in others. It was then that I realized that there was a statistical tracker already on the website that gives the final score live for their players. When 1 o'clock games ended that was lost 60 to 35 and not seen well. The predictions now told me to lose 101-89. I had 4 players left and the other team had 5, so that all 4 pm games that are constantly looking at my computer laptop while watching the games on television. Needless to say my wife was not very happy. At the end of the day I got 94 to 84, entering the game Monday night we each had one player left. He was sure he would win, but I had learned earlier in fantasy football scores day can change a negative in an instant.
When I got home from work on Monday I did my duty as a father made sure that the children performed the task, helped prepare dinner and enjoyed time with family before putting children to bed. At the time the game started I had my laptop open so I could track my points of a player during the game. I went to my first game win 106 to 89 and felt like a proud homeowner. That's all he did, after a week I was hooked and not could wait until next week to start.
Over the next couple of weeks I learned that when a team is on their bye week so is your player, I was not prepared for (I know I'm an idiot). I went to miss next three games before deciding I had to do some operations to improve my team so I switched QB Jake Delhomme and TE Owen Daniels TE Chris Cooley (Redskins) and RB Rashard Mendenhall (Steelers). After I dropped and picked up Avery WR WR Mike Sims-Walker (Jaguars) to the list of free agents. Since the trades have won two straight games and are 3-3 going into the seventh week.
About the Author
I don’t watch the stats on my laptop as much as did, I only check it about 5 times a game now, which I think is reasonable even though my wife says it’s still too much. I now see why over the year’s fantasy football has become so popular. Before I just liked to make sure I was home to watch my favorite team play on Sundays, and followed other teams just to see if I could figure out who would make it to the Super Bowl. Now not only do I watch my favorite team every Sunday, I also enjoy the up and down roller coaster ride of watching my fantasy team perform every weekend.
