fantasy football strategy first pick
There is still time to go before the curtain rises next season in the NBA and fantasy leagues that go with it, but it is never too early to consider potential to impact some complete stories in the league.
The saga of Ricky Rubio Rubio, Spanish, which was the fifth pick Minnesota is going to have "complicated" life. In fact, he can make more money in Europe at this time than it would in the NBA. As for the fantasy Rubio, probably would not have made a huge splash this season. His numbers in Europe, though solid, were far from shocking. You have to develop as a shooter and a finisher to complete the game, and if he does, his arrival in 2011 or soon thereafter will own fantasy may seem forward.
Ron Artest signs with the Lakers: 17.1 ppg Artest last season with Houston were his lowest total since the 2002-2003 season, when was with the Pacers, and his .401 shooting percentage matched his lowest level, but his versatile game makes him a valuable fantasy product. He is an average of at least 5.2 rebounds in each of his last seven seasons, at least 3.1 assists in each of his last six seasons, and never below an average of 1.5 steals per game. Do not expect anything like that to change this year with the Lakers. It will be an integral piece of the puzzle in Los Angeles, provided they stay out of trouble.
Health Amare Stoudemire and Trade rumors: The Phoenix big man underwent surgery on his eye to repair a detached retina in February, and has only recently come back to training in the field. There has been much speculation about whether the Suns to trade him or sign him to an extension, and now nobody seems to have an idea of what is most likely. As for his fantasy status, he remains a top level big man, but note that it is a risk because of their injury status.
Big names Moved: We mentioned the transfer of Artest to LA, but there a lot of other big names moving in the offseason. Shaquille O'Neal was traded to Cleveland. Vince Carter was sent to Orlando. Ben Gordon signed with Detroit. Emeka Okafor was sent to New Orleans. Richard Jefferson was traded to the Spurs. All are striking for fantasy owners, and each has a new home. Obviously, O'Neal, at age 37, is no longer the dominant force it once was, but still put up nearly 18 points more than a block with eight rebounds per game last season. There are questions to most others. Average score Will Carter will ebb, as it has for the past three years? Power Gordon put together his best season despite coming off the bench for Detroit?
These questions and many more soon answered as the NBA season gets closer and closer.
